Wigan pays tribute to those who died at Arena bombing

Marking the moment Crowds gathered outside the arena to watch a screening of the memorial service

Prime Minister Theresa May and Prince William joined families of the victims - seven of whom were under 18 - for the cathedral ceremony to remember the May 22 Manchester Arena attack during an Ariana Grande performance.

They included the Manchester Survivors Choir, made up of people who were at the arena on the night of the fateful concert last May 22, and Parrs Wood High School's Harmony Group, whose post-attack tribute went viral past year.

Paul also paid tribute to soldier Lee Rigby, who was killed in a terrorist attack near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, London, five years ago on May 22, 2013.

"I love you with all of me and am sending you all of the light and warmth I have to offer on this challenging day", she wrote in a tweet that included a bee, the civic symbol of Manchester.

Later Tuesday, more than 3,000 singers from local choirs will come together to mark the anniversary in Albert Square.

"Thinking of you all today and every day". "My heart is always going to be in Manchester", said Marr, "Always has been and always will be".

Thousands of people paused outside Manchester Cathedral at 2:30 p.m. for a minute of silence that was observed across the country, including in Parliament, where lawmakers paused their debates and fell still.

"Music is supposed to be the safest thing in the world. You can't stop the sound of love". The Lord Mayor of Manchester, June Hitchen, and the Bishop of Manchester, the Right Reverend David Walker, were also part of the event.

Photographs of those who died in the bombing were displayed on screens in the cathedral shortly before the silence and 22 lit candles on the altar represented each one of the victims, which were made using wax from the thousands of candles left in St Ann's Square in their memory last May.

"Nobody will ever forget what happened but the way Manchester pulled together shows you everything you need to know about the people here".

Some laid bouquets of flowers in St. Ann's Square.

Bells will ring out across the city center at 10:31 p.m.to mark the exact moment of the explosion past year.
