Westworld renewed for season 3 at HBO

The news was fittingly revealed via the cryptic tweet below from the official handle of the series, before The Hollywood Reporter was allowed to shine a light on a few more details for Westworld Season 3.

HBO confirmed the renewal of "Westworld" for a third season today. Earlier today Casey Bloys, President of Programming at HBO, blessed us with this wonderful news, and we couldn't be more excited! "From the inspired storytelling to the incredible visuals, we are so excited to see where the next chapter will take us".

It's no surprise that Westworld is already renewed for a season three-right? Overall, the series has been a massive success for HBO. Well, at least that was the way of it in the first season.

Be that as it may, this is excellent, if unsurprising news for Westworld enthusiasts, as it ensures co-creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will be given the chance to deep dive into the other parks simmering in the bowels of Delos.

The move comes on the heels of the season 2 premiere on April 22 after a almost 17-month gap from the season 1 finale. If you haven't yet seen Westworld, it would be a crime to spoil things, so let's just say that, in contrast with Season 1, being a human guest inside the sprawling amusement park for the mega-rich is no longer the safe bet it once was.

Through the first two episodes of Season 2, "Westworld" is averaging a little under 2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49, numbers on par with the show's first-season average.

Considering Season 2 of the series is only two episodes in, fans have no idea what to expect for Season 3. Most fans of the series are painfully aware of the almost year and a half gap between the end of Season 1 and the premiere of Season 2.

Episode 3 of Season 2 titled, "Virtù e Fortuna" airs on May 6 on HBO.
