Tuesday forecast: Isolated chance of showers/storms this morning

Nice mornings, stormy afternoons

Tonight will keep the forecast dry for now and partly cloudy but if there are any storms that develop it'll likely be east of HWY 75.

This isn't a totally classic severe weather day, but it is a day when there could be strong to severe thunderstorms. The thickest clouds will be over Cape Cod and the south coast; the brightest skies will be north of the Mass. Pike.

We'll finish the week on Thursday and Friday with more sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. Most across southern Colorado stay dry Wednesday and Thursday; however, the eastern plains could be battling a few severe storms on both of those days. Scattered showers and storms are possible throughout the day.

"Whether it does or does not [become a tropical depression] is not going to make much difference in what we get", FOX8 MAX Weather Chief Meteorologist Van Denton said. The rain won't be continuous and the sun will be out at times, but be ready for rain, especially during the afternoon and evening, when the air is most unstable.

Tuesday: Clouds and some sun.

The setup will then feature rounds of showers and storms coming our way for the rest of the week.

PLAINS: Low - 54, High - 78. Turning cool. Lows 50-55. Low clouds Monday morning, burning off to partly sunny skies.

The projected Excessive Rainfall shows the Chicago area continues to be in the Slight Risk area for flood-producing downpours (outlook map below).
