First lady Melania Trump underwentkidney surgery Monday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington, DC, according to a statement from her office. He wrote about this in his Twitter, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the UNN.

"Our great First Lady is doing really well".

Earlier Tuesday, the president tweeted that she was "doing really well" and would be "leaving the hospital in 2 or 3 days". "They did a fantastic job, so thank you, and she sends her love".

US First Lady Melania Trump had surgery Monday for what aides called a "benign" kidney condition, and will remain in hospital for the rest of the week.

"This was a significant medical procedure and therefore they just want to keep an eye on her", she said.

The White House withheld additional information about the first lady's condition, citing her right to privacy.

"The treatment of choice" is to cut off the blood supply so the growth shrinks, added Dr. Lambros Stamatakis of MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

First Lady Melania Trump has taken on a more public role lately - recently releasing her "Be Best" campaign created to help children be their best by addressing well being, social media use and opioid abuse.

A Slovenia-born former model, Melania married Trump in 2005.

Mrs. Trump, 48, was last seen in public on Wednesday at a White House event to honor military mothers and spouses. They have a 12-year-old son, Barron.
