The latest Snapchat redesign brings some sanity back to the platform

Snapchat Launches New Redesign After Listening To The Users Feedback

Another Snapchat redesign is in the works and will roll out to iOS users shortly - correcting some of the mistakes and addressing the backlash of the most recent update. Late a year ago, Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel announced that changes would be made to the app after Snapchat fell short of expected growth projections for the quarter.

It's rare for companies to row back on redesigns, but Snapchat succumbed to pressure after over one million users signed a petition.

As The Verge first noted, the app's new layout puts Snaps and Chats in chronological order again and moves Stories from your friends back to the right-hand side of the app.

Snap Inc has been taking severe L's left and right since its dreaded update.

Subsequently, Snap acknowledged that the "new Snapchat has felt uncomfortable for many", with the latest update being an attempt to address numerous requested changes.

In order to better appeal to advertisers and maximize profit, a Snapchat redesign was introduced that was wildly unpopular with the majority of users.

Snapchat has largely stood firm regarding the design, with CEO Evan Spiegel saying people would get used to it over time.

"We are now focused on optimizing the redesign based on our ongoing experimentation and learning", he said, explaining the changes. Like the previous redesign, however, your friends' Stories remain separate from branded content.

Since the fourth quarter 2017, revenue was down 19%, while daily active users increased by just 2%. The company was expected to report more than 194 million users but fell short at 191 million. "The redesign created a lot of new opportunities, and we look forward to continuing our efforts to refine and improve Snapchat".

Snap is now rolling out an update to iOS users with some pretty significant changes in tow.
