Stalker 2 Development Confirmed, Launches in 2021

Stalker 2 is in development (again)

Besides the number and moniker, nothing else has been announced yet.

A few moments ago, GSC Game World announced on its official site that they are developing Stalker 2, a title that had a previous phase of creation more than 7 years ago and was canceled in 2012.

The latest release in the gritty post-apocalyptic survival horror series was S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat, which arrived back in 2009.

Rewinding the clock 11 years back 2007 and we have the original STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl released, pitting gamers into a first-person shooter set in the Soviet-era nuclear power plant of Chernobyl. However, I'm sure in due time we'll learn more about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and the platform (s) it will be playable on. The bad news is that it's not going to happen anytime soon: The Stalker 2 site now indicates that it'll be out in 2021.

As for the game engine, nothing has surfaced yet.

The forum post links to a Facebook post from Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World.

It feels like forever since the original STALKER was released by developer GSC Game World, but now the developer has finally announced STALKER 2, without much fan fare which is very, very odd. Do you think S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will be able to go head-to-head with similarly-themed franchises like Metro and Fallout?
