Rachael DelTondo, 32-Year-Old Teacher Fatally Shot in Aliquippa

Rachael DelTondo 32 was standing on her mother's Buchanan Street driveway in Aliquippa Beaver County on Sunday when she was killed in a hail of gunfire

A Pennsylvania teacher was gunned down on Mother's Day just months after being suspended from her job following a leaked police report stating that officers had found her in a steamed-up parked auto with a 17-year-old boy, reports the Daily Mail. However, she was reportedly suspended last fall following allegations from a former Aliquippa High School student's mother. Dan Casper, a family neighbor, told CBS News: "I don't know why that happened". She had told police the boy had called her because "he was upset and needed someone to take to".

After coming home from an ice-cream shop at around 11:00 p.m., DelTondo went up to her mother's driveway on Buchanan Street and was gunned down.

Officials at the school received an anonymous tip-off via email in October 2017 that claimed that she had been involved in an incident in which police found her in a parked vehicle with a student who was 17 at the time, reports the Daily Mail.

A teacher has been shot dead on Sunday a matter of months after she was suspended from her post for allegedly being caught by the police in a compromising position in a auto with a 17-year-old boy. Police have ruled the death a homicide.

Police noted that the car's "windows were steamed over and the engine was not running".

Brian Hayden, CEO of Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, said that because he is a mandatory reporter, he had to notify Pennsylvania Childline when he received the email, even though it was about an incident that had happened almost two years earlier.

She defended herself at the time by saying that the pair were just talking and that the teen was no longer a student. Inside the auto they found the teenager and DelTondo. A police report from 2016 said the two were found in a "steamed-up" parked auto around 2 a.m.

The email included the police report and a note that DelTondo and the teen had a "relationship" over text messages and Snapchat messages.

No charges were brought against DelTondo over the incident, and police drove the teen home that evening. Childline is part of a mandated statewide child protective services program, which transmits information to appropriate investigative agencies.

But sources say it also prompted a state police investigation of the Aliquippa Police, and that DelTondo cooperated.

Brian Hayden, the CEO of Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, released a statement about DelTondo's death.

'We have no additional information beyond what is being reported by local media.

However, School CEO Brian Hayden said records show the teen was never a registered student at PA Cyber. We express our sympathy to her family, friends, and coworkers.

DelTondo had been teaching at Pennsylvania Cyber for almost 10 years.

The family, who had already put down a $4,600 non-refundable deposit, told the salon they would like to pay the balance and receive the dress so they could sell it, but said the designer never delivered the gown and refused to refund their deposit.

CBS Pittsburgh met DelTondo a year ago when she was the subject of a CBS Pittsburgh report as a bride-to-be in a dispute over her custom wedding dress. The wedding was ultimately scrapped, KDKA reported.
