Terrorists Attack Police Post in Budgam to Snatch Weapons Jammu and Kashmir Police Constable Succumbed to Injuries

One police personnel posted in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam succumbed to his injuries on Friday, hours he was attacked by terrorists.

A youth was injured after army opened fire on youth after they were pelted with stones in adjoining Soibugh village. Youths reportedly hurled rocks at Indian Army vehicles after the attack.

Official sources said the policeman, who has been identified as selection grade constable Shamim Ahmad, sustain critical bullet wounds in the militant attack.

He said the militant attack on the post at Wardwan in Soibug area of central Kashmir was successfully repulsed by the police.

"Militants today attempted to force their entry inside a Guard post at Budgam".

"Militants appeared outside the Guard Post and held-up policeman Shamim Ahmad, who was unarmed and going to offer Friday prayers at a local mosque.Shamim was asked by militants to lead toward the Guard Post. The alert jawans successfully foiled the attempt", said a Srinagar-based spokesman.

A police official said the Islamic State had claimed responsibility online for the incident.
