Piyush Goyal given additional charge of Finance Ministry Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore is new I&B Minister

In a mini-Cabinet rejig of sorts, Rajyavardhan Rathore has been made the Information and Broadcasting minister by the Modi government.

The communique from the office of President Ram Nath Kovind said Rajyavardhan Rathore, who was the junior minister in the Information and Broadcasting ministry, will handle it fully now with independent charge. Irani however, is still in charge of Textiles Ministry. Irani retains her charge of the textile ministry. Alphons Kannanthanam, Minister of State, has been relieved of the charge of MoS of Electronics and Information Technology.

SS Ahluwalia is being relieved as the MoS of Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation and has been given the portfolio of MoS in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

This is the second time she has been removed from her ministry. Goyal's performance earlier as the power minister led to his "promotion", getting him the coveted and important railways portfolio. Jaitley underwent a kidney transplant surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi on Monday, reported PTI.
