Memorial Day services announced for the area

The Lee High School Band, Mayor Jack Poll and the Wyoming Department of Public Safety Honor Guard will lead the annual Memorial Day ceremony to recognize those who have served in the Armed Forces.

About 130 new flags have been donated in the past year, officials said.

The program will be broadcast live on WRMN 1410 AM and will also include the Elgin Master Chorale, Larkin High School Band and local students reading Lincoln's Gettysburg Address and General John Logan's Orders which established Memorial Day. All events are Monday unless otherwise noted.

The Carteret County Veterans Services Office has scheduled its Service of Remembrance at the Carteret County Veterans Memorial at Courthouse Square in Beaufort. Following this service, attendees will convene on Herritage Street at the Walk of Honor for a wreath laying at the Korean/Vietnam Memorial. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and traverse Grand Ave. with veterans, service groups, horses and lots of patriotism.

"The parade will start at the McClain High School colonnades on Fifth Street and continue to the Greenfield Cemetery with a ceremony by the Concerned Veterans", G3 member Shari Royse-Bellar said. In case of rain, services will be held at the Methodist Church. The tour is free and will begin Sunday at 10 a.m.at the Ivy Chapel. The parade will travel down Main Street. Ends at Echo Park, Highway 36, for the veteran ceremonial tribute at approximately 10 a.m. Other speakers include Mark Morgan, Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System Director; William Rhoades, Ft.

¯ The Gerry Memorial Day Parade will be held Sunday, with lineup beginning at 1:30 p.m.at the Gerry Fire Hall.

Kicking things off at 9:30 a.m.at the cemetery, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, will be a military flyover followed by music from Tulsa Community Band. It will step off at 10 a.m. and proceed north on Broadway, right onto Pleasant Street and right onto Charles Street for a ceremony. The guest speaker will be Army veteran Adam Packham.

Wellfleet: Ceremony conducted by John R. McKay Post 287 of The American Legion at 9 a.m. on Town Hall lawn will feature retired Brig.

For this year, it is expected that at least 10,000 spectators for different regions of the country attend the parade to remember and honor once again all those soldiers killed in battle so many years ago, celebrating outdoors starting from State and Lake Street and continuing on State Street to Van Buren. A ceremony will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery.

A meal will be served following the two ceremonies at Effingham American Legion Post 120 Club Room.

A parade will start at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Nikolay Middle School, 211 South St., and will head down Main Street.

Should the Memorial Day Celebration be canceled due to severe weather, a public service announcement will be broadcast on WNOS FM 103.9 at 10 a.m.

The event is sponsored by The American Legion Post 15 of Loveland.

Beginning Friday and continuing through Monday, a number of events and activities are planned across the Tulsa area in observance of Memorial Day.

Monday - Veterans Memorial Day Parade begins at 9 a.m.at Kane and Edward streets, Burlington, and proceeds through downtown Burlington.

Following the service uptown, food will be provided at the VFW Post for anyone that wants to stop by.

For those in Moorpark who would like to honor our fallen heroes, Memorial Day will be observed at the Moorpark Veterans Memorial, 608 Spring Road, at 10 a.m. Mon., May 28. The parade will wind down Mammoth to the Town Common for traditional services.

The American Legion will host their Memorial Day service Wednesday, May 30 at 7 p.m.at the flagpole outside their building at 5970 Route 7.

People unable to march should get into the cars in the St.
