Jason Witten: Packers a 'great spot' for Dez Bryant

Michael Gallup Cowboys

While the receiver room is crowded in Green Bay, Bryant would give the Packers a veteran playmaker to start opposite Davante Adams, and his skill set - which includes using physicality to make contested catches and create yards after the catch - could still be valuable to a team with Aaron Rodgers under center. Witten will be ESPN's Monday Night Football analyst this season and talked about his new role. The #Packers have been considered a possible Dez Bryant landing spot. but they aren't engaged now and nothing is imminent.

The Packers drafted three receivers, including Missouri's J'Mon Moore, during the third day of the National Football League draft.

J'Mon Moore in the fourth round, Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the fifth round and Equanimeous St. Brown in the sixth round.

Witten also mentioned the New Orleans Saints as a possibility, but let's look at the Packers. Most fans and media members believe that Bryant would prefer to sign a one-year deal to prove himself and then test free agency again next offseason.

Something the Packers can certainly offer with the roughly estimated $16 million in cap space they have, per Over the Cap.

And that's Dez Bryant.

Bryant's interest on the open market has been lukewarm at best. So, Witten might not be totally insane making the suggestion, though it does seem fairly outlandish given the Packers historical tendency to shy away from splashy free agent signings. Witten thinks Dez will be signing with another NFC team. The Pro Bowl tight end said he believes Bryant is going to sign with the Green Bay Packers. Aaron Rodgers, he throws that back-shoulder throw so well and Dez has great chemistry with a great quarterback that can put the ball wherever he wants. You partner him up with Jimmy Graham and Aaron Rodgers, and I think that offense can put up a lot of points. Bryant's ex-teammate Jason Witten recently opined that Bryant would end up with the Packers.
