Iran vows to restart nuclear program if deal collapses

While withdrawing on Tuesday from the accord struck under his predecessor Barack Obama, U.S. President Donald Trump pledged "the highest level of economic sanction" against the Iranian regime, which he called "the leading state sponsor of terror".

Bolton noted that Trump said in announcing the US exit from the Iran nuclear deal that "countries that continue to deal with Iran could face USA sanctions".

Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the strikes, calling them a "blatant violation of the country's sovereignty".

The EU's so-called blocking statute is the most powerful tool at its immediate disposal because it bans any EU company from complying with US sanctions and does not recognise any court rulings that enforce American penalties.

Despite the USA exit, Britain and Iran on Sunday expressed their commitment to ensuring that the accord is upheld, according to a statement released by British Prime Minister Theresa May's office.

The exit drew swift criticism from the deal's other signatories, including USA allies in Europe who'd tried for weeks to convince Trump to remain on board and said they plan to keep their commitment to the deal. The sanctions depend on the conduct of their respective governments, he said.

With the world in a "state of chaos", she said the European Union needs to control tensions by preserving the Iran deal.

"We are not interested in the atomic bomb, but we are increasing our missile capabilities in other fields so that Israel can not sleep well", he was quoted as saying by semi-official ISNA News Agency. "I don't trust these three either and you should not trust them".

These questions get at the heart of whether the Iran nuclear deal can continue without the support of the US. Zanganeh said foreign investment was needed to develop Iran's its oil industry, but that it could survive even if foreigners made a decision to stay away for fear of USA penalties.

"The Europeans have between 45 and 60 days to give the necessary guarantees to safeguard Iranian interests and compensate the damages caused by the United States pullout", Icana.ir reported.

Iranian forces based in Syria fired 20 rockets at Israeli front-line military positions in the Golan Heights early on Thursday, the Israeli military said, triggering an Israeli reprisal and escalating already heightened tensions in what appeared to be the most serious violence in years.

In the wake of new US sanctions, some buyers of OPEC's third-largest oil producer said on Wednesday they would seek USA exemptions to purchase Iranian crude.

Many informed sources speculate that Trump's tweet in April which blamed OPEC for high oil prices might be playing a part in the negotiation process that is underway to reach an understanding with Saudi Arabia.

Bolton asserted that Iran has been increasingly exercising its military power in the Middle East "under cover" of its nuclear deal with the USA and its European allies.
