BREAKING Serious injuries reported after plane crash in Offaly

Gardai and ambulance personnel rushed to the scene of the light plane crash in Offaly.

A man and a 7 year old boy have been critically injured following a light plane crash near Edenderry this Sunday afternoon, May 13. All 16 made their jump from the craft.

The man killed in the crash is reported to be from the United Kingdom, while RTE report the young boy is the son of one of the parachutists who had been on board.

The crashed aircraft was found approximately 2 kilometres from the Clonbullogue Airfield they had departed from earlier. A post mortem will be carried out on both bodies at Tullamore Hospital.

The pilot, believed to be from the United Kingdom, and a seven-year-old local boy were on board when the plane went down in bog land.

"I thought he was actually doing a stunt and I was waiting for them to pull out but it never happened, sadly", the local man said.

Mr Slattery said the sound of planes taking off and landing wasn't unusual in the area, and the noise he heard wasn't dissimilar.
