DeAngelo Hall retires after 14 years in the NFL

DeAngelo Hall looks to run after recovering a fumble

Defensive back DeAngelo Hall announced his retirement from the NFL Monday at the age of 34 after a 14-year career.

Hall told reporters he's considering transitioning into a career in television or pursuing jobs in an National Football League front office. "I still want a gold jacket, whether I can get one as an exec, a coach - I'm going to get me a damn gold jacket, believe that". Hall signed in Washington three days later to a one-year contract. "But yeah, all the other stuff is still on the table".

In three seasons in Blacksburg, Hall recorded 190 tackles and 8 interceptions while also catching 7 passes for 86 yards and a touchdown on offense.

Even though Hall was no longer the same dynamic playmaker he was in his prime, his versatility made him a valuable contributor for the Redskins in the secondary.

"I had a vision of a gold jacket, but the injuries the last couple years have been very hard on me", he said. "So that's kind of out of the question now". That's kind of my focus.

The NFL's active leading interceptor prior to his announcement with 43 career INTs, Hall returned five of those for touchdowns. He only played for Atlanta for four seasons and the Oakland Raiders for eight games in 2008.

Upon returning from injury last season, Hall shuttled in and out of the starting lineup at safety, lending support to D.J. Swearinger and Montae Nicholson.
