Cong making desperate attempts to win, alleges Amit Shah

Talking about the recovery of almost 10,000 voter IDs from an apartment in Bengaluru, Shah said, "The Congress is trying to win elections with undemocratic ways". "I have said 130 plus and 150 or 151 is definitely more than 130", Mr Shah said. This revelation instantly wreaked havoc among the two major political parties - the BJP and the Congress.

The thousands of voter ID cards and other documents seized from a flat in Jalahalli, Rajarajeshwari Nagar (RR) constituency, by the flying squad of the Election Commission appeared to have been collected systematically from various slums and put into covers with names and mobile numbers written on them, indicating they were intended for collection by someone possibly to influence voters, said Karnataka Chief Election Officer Sanjiv Kumar here on Wednesday.

At a press conference held Thursday - the final day of campaigning - the BJP top strategist pointed out that Siddaramaiah wasn't seeking re-election in the constituency he now represents: Varuna.

Following a Congress delegation meet with the EC, senior leader Anand Sharma said, "We have submitted a memorandum, where we have highlighted the malpractices by the BJP along with the assistance of central agencies, including income tax officials".

Shah said that he got a chance to experience the people's anger against the Siddaramaiah government. Now it was upto the Deputy Election Commissioner, who was expected in the city, to take a decision on the issue, he revealed. Shah said unlike the last term, B S Yeddyurappa would remain chief minister for the entire term because the Narendra Modi government at the centre "will be rock solid behind him" to expedite the development works in the state. "So, there is no question of taking support from any other nor about giving support to any party", Mr Shah told a press conference here before winding up his campaigning for May 12 election to Assembly.

On Congress President Rahul Gandhi's allegations that the Prime Minister had launched personal attacks, Shah said, "On an average, if you see, such attacks have been for 2 to 3 minutes, but it appeared to be too much because the media played it or the entire day to gain TRP".
