Children in California home were 'tortured for sadistic purposes'

The discovery happened after police responded to reports of a missing 12-year-old child on March 31. The boy had been asleep under a bush in the yard of a nearby home, according to a police statement on Monday.

Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, said she was "horrified" by their statements, saying the torture was "for sadistic purposes".

She and her husband each got here from damaged houses and so they needed a big household, she stated.

During their search, they reportedly discovered 10 other children-ranging in age from four months to 11 years old-living in "horrible conditions". All 10 children are in the protective custody of Solano County Child Welfare Services.

The children's accounts of their abuse led authorities to issue a warrant for Allen's arrest. He was ordered to be held on $5.2 million bail.

Police said on Monday that the parents Jonathan Allen, 29, and Ina Rogers, 30, had been arrested and charged.

Jonathan Allen, a father of eight of the children, was charged with seven counts of torture and nine counts of felony child abuse, by the Solano County District Attorney's Office.

Allen was arrested by police detectives at 9 a.m. Friday at his Fieldstone Court residence.

They arrested Rogers on suspicion of child endangerment and had all 10 of the children placed into Solano County's Child Welfare Services.

She gave reporters a tour of her home on Monday, denying that her husband had abused the youngsters.

A California woman whose 10 children were removed from a home described as filthy by authorities denied that she or her husband had abused or neglected the kids, telling reporters on Monday that the children all slept in one bedroom together because they wanted to.

'The conditions they saw in my home was me tearing up my house because my son was missing.

But Rogers, who works at a heart monitoring company, said the home was messy because she had been searching for her son who had run off after his computer was confiscated.

She said: "There's no broken bones, there is no major scars, nothing".

"Not only do I have 11 children - and I am 30 years old - but I also home school all of my children and people don't agree with that lifestyle", Rogers said.

Throughout the tour, the four-bedroom home in Fairfield, 46 miles (74 kilometers) northeast of San Francisco, was messy with scuffed partitions and animal feces within the lavatory. She later posted bail.

"It's embarrassing", she said. "I work graveyard." Rogers said.

David and Louise Turpin beforehand pleaded not responsible to torture, little one abuse and different prices in a case that has drawn worldwide consideration because the couple's 17-year-old daughter escaped the household's Perris, California, residence in January. "He looks like a scary individual, and that's why people are so quick to judge him", Rogers said. One neighbor, Larry Magney, who lives across the street, said Allen and Rogers moved in about a year ago.

"But my husband is an awesome person". She described herself as an "amazing mother".

"She was pretty concerned, and she was like, you know, running around the neighborhood", Magney said, adding that he was "shocked" to learn that 10 children were living in the house, the Chronicle reported.
