Celtic Target Rhian Brewster's Liverpool Contract Reportedly Extended

Brewster has not signed a professional contract with Liverpool despite being offered one

Liverpool are weighing up whether to report Borussia Monchengladbach for an illegal approach to their 18-year-old striker Rhian Brewster, who now looks certain to join the Bundesliga club at the end of the season.

Concerns are growing at Anfield that Liverpool may lose their young star Rhian Brewster to the Bundesliga, according to The Guardian.

Brewster shot to prominence when he was the top scorer as England won the Under-17 World Cup a year ago, but reports suggest that Liverpool are struggling to get him to agree his first professional contract with them, which will alert the clubs coveting his signature.

Liverpool understand any potential frustration the World Cup victor may harbour over his first-team chances, but have "a clear idea that Brewster has been approached".

He is thriving in the Bundesliga, and the fact that City fought to extract an £8million fee from Dortmund can give Liverpool hope.

A tactic that Liverpool themselves were found guilty of committing in their initial pursuit of Virgil van Dijk, the club have tried desperately to sign Brewster to a professional contract in order to avoid such a scenario.

'Manchester City went through a similar process with Dortmund over Sancho and the German club settled on £8 million with the suggestion being that the price was high because English club had complained about their conduct'.

The 18-year-old is highly regarded by Jurgen Klopp and trains regularly with the first team at Anfield.

A separate report by Liverpool Echo claim the Premier League club value Brewster at £10million despite him being out of contract next month.
