World's oldest man revealed

Japanese father arrested for reportedly caging son for 20 years

Although Nonaka is the oldest living male, Guinness World Records said it now has no female equivalent for the title since Violet Brown of Jamaica died last September at age 117. He even celebrated his win with a cake, saying "yum", according to a report by the Guinness World Records.

Japan's Masazo Nonaka, who has set the record for world's oldest man at 112 years old, has revealed what has helped him live such a long life.

A 112-year-old man living in Japan has shared his secrets to becoming the oldest man alive.

Nonaka was born on July 25, 1905, a little more than a year after the Wright Brothers invented the first successful airplane and made brief flights at Kitty Hawk in North Carolina on December 17, 1903.

Nonaka lives with his family, which manages a hot springs inn. She also credits his stress-free lifestyle and delicious candies, both Japanese and Western - his favorite being strawberry sponge cake.

"He needs a wheelchair to move, but he is in good condition", she added.

Nonaka may be the oldest living male in the world, but the oldest man to ever live was Jiroemon Kimura, who was also Japanese. In 1931, he got married and became a father of five. Nonaka now enjoys spending time with his family, watching TV-especially sumo wrestling-or reading newspapers. He now spends his time surrounded by his family and cozied up with his pet cats of whom he is very fond.

In fact, Japanese people often tend to reach the record books for old age. He was born on April 19, 1897 and died at the age of 116 years and 54 days in June 2013, according to Guinness.

The greatest authenticated age for any human is 122 years, 164 days by Jeanne Louise Calment of France, who died in 1997.
