Woman's Body Found Near Where SUV Plunged Into River With Family

Sandeep Thottapilly, 41, vice president of the Union Bank on Santa Clarita, and his wife Soumya Thottapilly, 38, were on a road trip along with their two kids - Siddhanth, 12 and Saachi, 9 - from Portland, Oregon, to San Jose in Southern California. They were reported missing when they failed to arrive at a relative's home in San Jose for a Friday stopover.

The mother who intentionally drove her family off a cliff in Northern California in late March was drunk, according to preliminary toxicology reports.

They were last heard from the day before authorities received reports of a maroon Honda Pilot - the same color and make of the Thottapillys' SUV - submerging into the swollen river along US Highway 101 north of Leggett, according to local media reports.

The body was found yesterday on an exposed terrain which appeared to have covered by the Eel River within the last few days as a result of a recent weather storm which brought heavy rain to the area.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office shows a search underway along the Eel River in Northern California.

Between the two search days, the Swift Water Rescue Teams were able to cover approximately 12 miles of the Eel river, just north of the town of Leggett in California.

Their bodies and those of three of their children-Markis, 19, Jeremiah, 14, and Abigail, 14 - were recovered, while their other three children-Hannah, 16, Devonte, 15, and Sierra, 15 - are missing and feared dead. The vehicle submerged and vanished before rescuers reached the scene.

Police determined their vehicle for being a maroon or burgundy 20-16 Honda Pilot using license plates 7MMX138. He and his family are reported missing since last Thursday.
