Monday marks the first official day of spring practice for the Minnesota Vikings, which is good news.

The Minnesota Vikings announced LB Eric Kendricks has signed a contract extension with the club.

The former UCLA linebacker is signing an extension with the Minnesota Vikings. Kendricks' deal is worth $50 million over the next five years, with $25 million of it guaranteed, a league source confirmed.

Kendricks has picked up over 100 tackles in back-to-back seasons and played a significant role in the Vikings ranking No. 1 against opposing running backs in the passing game (per Football Outsiders). Kendricks has one year left on his rookie contract, after being drafted in the second round out of UCLA in 2015 and immediately becoming a starter on one of the top defenses in the NFL.

Kendricks, the Vikings' second-round pick in 2015, posted 113 combined tackles last season, with a sack and one interception (which he returned 31 yards for a touchdown). With Kendricks in place, it ensures that a major part o their defense is in place for the next several seasons. In 2017, the Fresno, California native tallied a career-high 136 (87 solo) total tackles and tied a career-high of 13 tackles vs. Cleveland (10/29/17).
