The Funniest Tweets About Sean Hannity Being Michael Cohen's Third Client

A week after his online war of words with Fox News host Sean Hannity Jimmy Kimmel had the opportunity to comment on Monday's surprising courtroom revelation that Hannity was a client of President Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen

They disclosed in a court filing on Monday that Mr Cohen had at least 10 clients in 2017 and 2018, and that he did "traditional legal tasks" for three of them, including Mr Trump, Republican fundraiser Elliott Broidy and a third who asked not to be named.

But Judge Kimba Wood made one of the lawyers identify Hannity on Monday.

Cohen's lawyers had publicly identified Trump and Broidy as clients, but only revealed Hannity's name after the judge ordered them to.

The US Attorney's Office has proposed to use a so-called "taint team" to conduct the initial review - lawyers from the office who are not involved in the Cohen investigation - to determine what, if any material, should be shielded from the investigators because it is protected by attorney-client or another privilege.

"This is perhaps the most highly publicized search warrant in the history of recent American criminal jurisprudence".

Cohen's attorneys said the client did not want to be associated with their client.

Late Sunday, lawyers for Trump asked for copies of the seized material to be turned over so the President could review them for confidential information.

Prosecutors with the USA attorney's office in Manhattan said they have a "filter team" of lawyers separate from those involved in the investigation in place to review the documents for any communications between Cohen and his clients.

Cohen is under criminal investigation, prosecutors confirmed last Friday.

McKay, the federal prosecutor, said in a court motion arguing against this that Cohen's request was "unprecedented and is not supported by case law".

Mr Hannity has been one of the president's most vocal on-air defenders and a fierce critic of the investigation into Mr Trump, which led to the raid on Mr Cohen's offices.

Cohen is "being investigated for criminal conduct that largely centers on his personal business dealings", Thomas McKay, an assistant USA attorney, said in a court filing.

Earlier Monday, Cohen's attorneys argued that the third client's name should remain anonymous.

The payoff to Ms Daniels could amount to a campaign finance violation. Also on hand was adult-film star Stormy Daniels, whom Cohen secretly paid $130,000 in 2016 to keep quiet the details of an alleged sexual liaison she had with Trump.

Broidy admitted to the relationship in a statement but did not address whether he impregnated the woman.

After Wood demanded Cohen's team reveal the name of the client, an audible gasp went out in the courtroom when Hannity's name was announced, Pegues said.

Daniels is also in attendance.
