Second Amendment Advocates Prepare for Indianapolis Rally

Saturday marked two months since 17 people were murdered at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

"It is ironic that all of those places are willing to spend millions of dollars to attack the rights of gun owners, when they should be protecting civil and Constitutional rights, including the Second Amendment", said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb.

Many attendees legally openly carried a gun.

"I think there's a lot of measures that can be taken to secure our schools that are not being met right now because they're being met with so much resistance from folks that are pushing the gun control agenda", he said.

Anti-gun local governments punish the people, Gottlieb explained, and he used the example of when Chicago lost a federal lawsuit to the Second Amendment Foundation and the city's police department footed the bill. "It's one of the best amendments there is. It's also to allow us to protect ourselves against a tyrannical government".

Several hundred people gathered outside the statehouse Saturday.

The Raleigh Second Amendment rally presented a student, too, 18-year-old Connor Groce from Clemmons. He concluded his talk with a plea: "Support young conservatives". "Even Winnie the Pooh owned a personal defense shotgun", read another.

"We've already seen compromise and yet these things continue to happen", said Holly Sullivan, events coordinator for CCDL.

The vast majority of those who attended the 2 p.m. rally were "Three Percenters", a national group named for the approximately 3 percent of colonists who took up arms to fight the British in the American Revolution. My heartfelt apologies go out to those who have been a victim of gun violence, but my stance is that we as a society should stop blaming others for a problem that is caused only by a few.
