Salah reaches 40th goal of season as Liverpool crush Bournemouth

Sadio Mane scored his 17th goal of the season against Bournemouth

When Roberto Firmino rolled in the final goal of a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Bournemouth, it took Liverpool's tally since Klopp arrived to 300 in all competitions; the haul of the Brazilian, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane - who scored the first here - now stands at 82 for the campaign.

But the Egyptian insists he values the Champions League ahead of any personal achievement.

The three forwards have a combined total of 82 goals so far this season with Salah scoring 40 times; Firmino has 25, and Mane has added a respectable 17 finishes to the pile. Victory for Liverpool was another blow to Chelsea's hopes of Champions League football next season.

'If you had a choice, then of course it is the Champions League, ' said Salah.

"It is a great feeling, of course it is a great feeling, but in the end I am just happy to score and help the team", the Egypt global told reporters.

He is of course leading the race to win the Premier League golden boot, but refused to be drawn on the situation surrounding Harry Kane's "goal" against Stoke, which was accredited to him on appeal, despite little evidence to suggest that he actually touched the ball. That's not me just being a rose-tinted Liverpool idiot (though yeah, I'm that too), that's a striker recognising class in front of goal.

However, he returned to the starting lineup after midweek's assault on Manchester City in the Uefa Champions League.

"In the end they said it's his (Kane's) goal so it's finished for me". I will try my best to score again and help the team. I don't care about the rest.

"I am happy to have this feeling". That is the most important thing for us, that we play as a team, as 11 players, and so each goal for me is to help the team.

Just like against United last weekend when a 2-0 half-time lead disappeared in 16 minutes, City threatened to let another promising position slip away when Christian Eriksen brought Spurs back into the game just before the break with a bit of fortune when Aymeric Laporte's clearance ricocheted off the Dane and past the helpless Ederson.
