'Night Court' Star Harry Anderson Dead at 65

Anderson was best known for his role as Judge Harry Stone on “Night Court.”

- Actor Harry Anderson, best known for his role as Judge Harry Stone on "Night Court", has died at age 65, FOX Carolina reports. Police noted that "no foul play is suspected".

Producer Judd Apatow wrote about being 15 and interviewing the star Anderson. His performance on the hit sitcom - along with several appearances doing standup on Saturday Night Live - led to his breakthrough role as Judge Harry Stone on the NBC sitcom Night Court.

TV network Laff, which is owned by the E.W. Scripps Co., airs reruns of Night Court weekdays from 3 to 5 p.m. ET.

Charles, at the time, was producing Cheers and asked Anderson to guest-star on the show as con man Harry "The Hat" Gittes.

Anderson was born on October 14, 1952, in Newport, RI, wyff4.com reported, adding Anderson also starred on the CBS comedy "Dave's World" from 1993-97, and appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1981-85. The interview is in my book Sick In The Head.

He performed as a street magician in San Francisco when he was 17 and also appearing at clubs like Dante Magic Club and the Magic Castle under the stage name "Harry the Hat", in reference to the trademark fedora he wore on stage. "He was a one of a kind talent who made millions so happy".
