Next week, Spotify will reveal future plans of its mobile app

This is the second high-profile departure from Apple Music in a week.

Carl Chery, the Hip-Hop programming head of Apple Music, is leaving Apple's music streaming platform for Spotify.

Chery originally joined Apple after the company acquired Beats by Dre / Beats Music several years ago. However, it looks like he'll be taking his talents over to a competing streaming service.

Carl Chery is the one that managed to strike a collaboration between Apple Music and Chance the Rapper, the Grammy-winning artist. Lately, Apple has been shuffling its team quite a bit lately, recently moving Oliver Schusser as the head of Apple Music worldwide.

At an event next week, Spotify will be announcing news about the upcoming changes to its mobile app, according to the company sent out.

It's unknown what additions Spotify will be announcing. Similar to the Google Home, or Apple HomePod, such a device from Spotify is said to do basic tasks such as set timers, but most importantly will be able to play music through Spotify through voice recognition.

Spotify's potential hiring of Chery signals the company's efforts to further bolster its curated playlists feature on its music streaming service.
