More than 200 Million Eggs Recalled over Potential Salmonella Contamination

The recalled eggs were not sold in IN, but they were distributed from a farm in Hyde County, North Carolina and went to Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

"FDA analysis of the samples revealed that the same strain of Salmonella Braenderup that caused the illnesses was present at the Hyde County Egg facility, tying the facility to the illnesses".

The affected eggs, from plant number P-1065, have the Julian date range of 011 through date of 102 printed on either the side portion or the principal side of the carton or package.

The infections were first reported in early March, and a lab on April 11 confirmed that a sample from the Hyde County farm matched a strain that was spurring the illness, the FDA said.

The Food & Drug Administration said eggs from a North Carolina farm may be tainted with salmonella, sickening at least 22 people.

The FDA says anyone who purchased the eggs should discard them or return them to where they were purchased for a refund. They were sold under the Waffle House, Food Lion, Country Day Break, Great Value, Crystal Farms, Sunshine Farms, Coburn Farms and Glenview USDA brands.

After a salmonella outbreak was traced to a farm in North Carolina, the company that owns the farm has taken measures to recall over 200 million eggs.

Rose Acre Farms described it self since the egg producer at the usa. The most frequent symptoms are diarrhea, fever, and severe abdominal cramps.

No other Florida stores were affected by the recall.

The service said it is also possible for eggs to become infected by Salmonella Enteritidis fecal contamination through the pores of the shells after they're laid.
