San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster appears for his arraignment at the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice in San Jose

Per the release, the alleged victim flagged down a stranger's auto following an altercation with Foster in which he physically threw her out of their home, pulled her hair and punched her in the head eight to 10 times.

If convicted of all charges, Foster could face 10 years, eight months in state prison, according to prosecutor Kevin Smith of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.

"Rueben Foster will not participate in team activities as he is tending to his legal matters", it read. The 49ers said in a statement that Foster's future with the team will be "determined by the information revealed during the legal process". He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of a large-capacity weapon magazine.

The 49ers released a statement attributed to chief executive officer Jed York, general manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan on Sunday night saying that Foster will not be participating in team activities as he goes through the legal process stemming from his February 11 arrest.

The 28-year-old alleged victim, who was his live-in girlfriend at the time, reportedly suffered bruises and a ruptured eardrum from the altercation.

Foster was arraigned last week and ordered to have no contact with the woman involved in the case while remaining free on $75,000 bond.

The charges will be adjusted for Foster's next court date, scheduled for April 30 at the Santa Clara County Hall of Justice in San Jose. In a statement, the 49ers organizations said: "We will continue to follow this serious matter". The voluntary sessions begin with strength and conditioning, then move to on-field work with coaches and finally the so-called OTA practice sessions, which end in June.

Foster could face a six-game suspension from the National Football League if he is formally charged with domestic violence.

"The 49ers organization is aware of today's disturbing charges regarding Reuben Foster". The judge also issued a no-contact order between him and the victim.
