Danny Boyle Musical Gets a Release Date from Universal

Director Danny Boyle's untitled comedy starring Lily James and Kate McKinnon will hit theaters in the US on September 13, 2019, Universal announced Monday.

As well as featuring musical material from The Beatles' vast catalogue of hits, new music will also be written for the film which Sheeran is also said to be involved with.

Over the last few years, Ed Sheeran has developed a habit of making surprise cameo appearances in TV and film-most notably in the Season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones as a Lannister solider. The news comes from the pages of the Daily Mail in the United Kingdom, who say that Sheeran is set to play the new comedy - tentatively titled All You Need Is Love.

The Untitled Danny Boyle/Richard Curtis Comedy will be produced by Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner (Les Misérables, Darkest Hour, Bridget Jones's series) alongside Matt Wilkinson (Kaleidoscope) and Bernie Bellew (Steve Jobs). Sheeran also has experience contributing music to movies, writing and performing the original song "I See Fire" from The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

Sheeran is also friends with director Curtis, whose previous films include Love Actually and Four Weddings and a Funeral, and his partner Emma Freud.

Lily James ("Cinderella", "Baby Driver") is attached to star, alongside Himesh Patel ("Eastenders"). "If anyone can make a film about the Beatles songs even better musically, it's him", they added.

Shooting will take place over the summer for a 2019 release.
