Airtel Offers 30GB Free Data for Users Upgrading to 4G Smartphones

Airtel-home-broadband

As part of the offer, all Airtel users who upgrade to a 4G smartphone will get 30GB of free data with both prepaid and postpaid connections.

Jio in its petition has claimed that Airtel, which is also a telecom service provider and competitor, is explicitly and falsely proclaiming that it is offering "live and free" access to the IPL cricket live streaming.

Customers opting for the plan also get free subscription to Airtel's OTT apps - Wynk Music and Airtel TV. This campaign did not go in well with Mukesh Ambani's Jio as it filed a suit in the Delhi High Court against Bharti Airtel for reliefs on being aggrieved by "the false, deceptive and misleading commercial/advertisements". These postpaid plans of Airtel are priced at Rs 399, Rs 499, Rs 649, Rs 799, and Rs 1,199.

It may be noted that Airtel has recently came out with a new cashback programme, wherein, it offered Rs 2,000 cashback on select 4G handsets from telecom brands like Nokia to compete against Reliance JioFootball cashback offer.

Jio, represented by Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, stated that the deception and misrepresentation inherent in the advertisements are aimed at enticing and luring viewers to subscribe to Airtel's telecom service and give preference to it over other telecom service providers in the market. The Rs 399 plan comes with 84 days validity for some users, while for some users, the validity is limited to 70 days. Unlimited calls in the plan include all local calls, all std calls and all roaming outgoing and incoming calls. To recall, Airtel users can watch free Live matches of IPL.

Airtel's 3GB data per day plan has been priced at Rs 349. The charges will be as per the data plan availed of by the subscriber and thus is not free. These are the special plans. This offer will be above and over any pack they choose to recharge with.
