White House aide John McEntee fired, under investigation

White House Personal Aide to the President John Mc Entee and White House Director of Social Media Dan Scavino leave the White House on Nov. 29 2017 in Washington DC

John McEntee, the former UConn quarterback whose trick shot video became a viral sensation in 2011, was sacked from his job as personal assistant to President Donald Trump on Monday, according to multiple reports.

McEntee was escorted out of the White House on Monday without being allowed to collect his belongings, including his jacket, The Journal reported.

Senior administration officals told the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday that McEntee was escorted out of the White House on Monday. WSJ wrote that the aide "indicated to colleagues that it was an issue in his background". White House chief of staff John Kelly has come under fire for his handling of clearances as dozens of staffers had yet to be approved for permanent clearance as of February. CNN added more specifically that McEntee is "currently under investigation by the Department of Homeland Security for serious financial crimes".

As ABC News reported a week ago, there is a list of several other people with security clearance issues who are under consideration for possible termination or reassignment in the coming days.
