WhatsApp Payments lets you scan QR codes to send money now

The new feature is only available in the beta version and it is available on 2.18.93 version of the app. Following the criticism from Paytm for not having QR code and UPI ID, WhatsApp soon rolled out the UPI ID payments option with the feature.

Facebook-owned WhatsApp rolled out a new feature called 'Delete for Everyone' previous year in October that allowed its users to delete (recall) the messages from receiver's phone. Once the bugs are fixed, these features are likely to come to the main app.

The post goes on to state that because of the feature being disabled for the time being, a number of beta testers who might have updated to version 2.18.93 may not see the feature immediately.

The company has introduced QR codes through which users can transfer the money with a simple scan. You will be taken to the QR code scanner and after the successful scan, you will be asked to enter the amounts and verification via UPI pin. Before we begin, you should refer our How to send money via WhatsApp guide for the initial setup of the payment feature. Rather than looking for a specific conversation and then attaching money, people can now directly send someone cash by entering their UPI ID.

WhatsApp had launched its digital payment service in India in February. Now, the latest Android beta version of WhatsApp has introduced this feature. However on top of that, there will be an option @ Send to UPI id. The other user need not have WhatsApp Payments activated in order to receive that payment. This report was shared by WABetaInfo, which says that the new feature is now left disabled by developers for further refinement, but it should find its way to a stable version soon. The new feature will allow you to search GIFs through categories such as Trending, LOL, Love, Sad, Happy, and Dancing.
