US's Tillerson 'not feeling well', cancels activities in Kenya

Rex Tillerson resumes normal schedule in Kenya

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has reportedly cut short his Africa trip to attend to "pressing issues" in Washington.

Tillerson began his visit to Africa in Ethiopia, then Djibouti and arrived in this capital city on Friday, from here he will depart for Chad and finally he will visit Nigeria, the last country of this tour accross the continent.

Tillerson, making his first trip to Africa as the senior-most U.S. diplomat, has visited Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya since last Wednesday.

On Saturday while visiting Nairobi, Tillerson, 65, canceled his scheduled events because he had been feeling unwell.

The US Secretary of State will be in the country until Monday.

Tillerson's travel plans have changed so that he can return to Washington early on Tuesday morning instead of late that night, a spokesman for the top USA diplomat told reporters traveling with him.

During his trip, he is expected also to meet with U.S. Embassy personnel and participate in events related to U.S. government-supported activities.

"Tillerson is expected to be joined by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama", the embassy stated.

According to a report on Reuters, Tillerson would now leave Africa to arrive U.S. early Tuesday morning as against his previous plan of returning on Tuesday night.

Soon after landing in Nairobi, Mr Tillerson held a meeting with President Kenyatta where they discussed security in the region, particularly the threat of Al-Shabaab and the war in South Sudan.
