US Olympic curling champions help unveil Hazeltine as 2028 Ryder Cup hosts

The raucous first tee at Hazeltine National Golf Club for the 2016 Ryder Cup will return in all its glory as the host of the 2028 event

The Ryder Cup was hosted at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska in 2016.

Hazeltine, site of the U.S. Ryder Cup Team's 17-11 victory in 2016, will become the first American venue to host a second Ryder Cup, according to the announcement.

Four members of gold medal 2018 U.S. Curling team - skip John Shuster, vice skip Tyler George, second Matt Hamilton, and lead John Landsteiner - participated in a 30-second video announcing the return.

The event at Hazeltine also provided a financial windfall for the PGA of America, as huge crowds filled the spacious grounds for the week capped by three days of tight, worldwide competition.

Hazeltine club President Bob Fafinski described the choice as a "testament" to the Minnesota golf community today.

According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, however, it wasn't necessarily that victory in a week of flawless fall weather that lured the PGA of America to return to the Minneapolis-St.
