US, EU Countries Discuss Fate of Iran Nuclear Deal

Trump told Netanyahu US will withdraw from Iran deal if demands aren’t met report

He said, "Last Friday I returned from the U.S. where I met with the President of the United States, a great friend of Israel, Donald Trump".

US President Donald Trump has renewed the national emergency with respect to Iran for one more year, beyond March 15, 2018 according to a Presidential statement dated March 12.

During the meeting, the U.S. president allegedly said that until now, France, Germany and the United Kingdom, the three European Union signatories to the deal, only proposed "cosmetic changes" that he did not find satisfactory, the Axios news website reported.

"Trump has set May 12th as the deadline to reach an agreement with France, Germany and the U.K.to "fix" the nuclear deal and avoid US withdrawal. Trump said he demands "significant changes" in the Iran deal itself and not simply the addition of a supplemental agreement between the US and the European countries, according to the officials".

Netanyahu recently returned from the U.S. where he met with President Donald Trump, U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, and senior American lawmakers. While the claims were made anonymously, The White House and Israeli officials did not refute Axios reporting when asked for comment.

The move is the latest in a series of measures by Washington aimed at dealing with one of the greatest diplomatic hurdles before Donald Trump's administration, to contain the regime in Iran while keeping up to America's global commitments within the JCPOA.

In the past two months, the four nations have held two talks.

Israel does not partake in the talks directly but is updated on any progress regarding the negotiations. A third round is expected this Thursday in Berlin.

"Make no mistake about it, this is their last chance".

In his speech, Pence echoed Trump's description of the deal as "disastrous". Please donate or subscribe to help fund independent journalism for the Iranian Diaspora.
