United Airlines Allegedly Involved In Another Dog Mishap

KCTV reports that Kara Swindle and her two children flew from OR to Kansas City, Missouri, Tuesday on a United flight. And unfortunately, that news is followed swiftly by another story involving a family pet and an airline mistake.

Kara and Joseph Swindle, along with their children, are in the process of moving from OR to Wichita. However, instead of Irgo, United gave them a Great Dane instead. "So I instantly burst into tears just wondering where my dog was".

The German shepherd, whose name is Irgo, was supposed to land in Kansas City, Missouri, on Tuesday. They have our paperwork here saying that this is the correct dog, but we know it's not.

Early Wednesday morning, United Airlines confirmed Irgo had touched down in Japan.

Since then, the airline said Irgo will be seen by a veterinarian and then put back on a flight back to Kansas. There is a chance that Irgo may need to be quarantined for up to two weeks in Japan due to traveling on an global flight.

But when they went to the cargo office to collect their pet, they were instead handed a great Dane.

"We apologise for this mistake and are following up with the vendor kennel where they were kept overnight to understand what happened", United said.

Swindle says, now, she just hopes that Irgo is okay, wherever he is.

"At this point, all I can do is be hopeful that my dog is going to be OK and return safely", she told KCTV. "I've cried too much".

On Monday, a French bulldog died on a Houston-to-New York flight after a United flight attendant told its owners to put the dog, in its carrier, in an overhead bin.

"One thing they're thinking right now is that somehow at the pet resort in the Denver airport, when they got taken out of their kennels, to go potty-or whatever they do-they somehow got switched", Swindle said.

A United spokesman told our sister station the incident happened during a connection error in Denver.

The US Department of Transportation tracks incidents of death or injury to animals that are transported on major US air carriers.

According to reports, the pet owner argued with crew staff but eventually put the pug in the compartment after being told it was safe.
