Toyota Yaris Sedan Premieres With Cute Looks, Same Mazda2 Footings

Toyota Yaris

On the US market, it has been rebranded as the Toyota Yaris iA until past year, but that designation apparently doesn't sit well with those in charge of naming the Japanese models. Hence, on the US market the Mazda 2 has now become the Toyota Yaris Sedan. Distinguishing the range-topping XLE model from lesser grades are leatherette-trimmed front seats, a leather steering wheel, Automotic Climate Control, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and illuminated entry. Piano black accents and chrome trim have also been added to the exterior, while the LE and XLE trim levels also gets a new rear lip spoiler. It also shows the view from the backup camera, which is standard on all trim levels. All of the sedans are fitted with a roof-mounted, color-keyed shark fin antenna for available satellite radio.

Each and every 2019 Yaris sedan sold will come complete with a 7.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system with voice recognition, remote interface, steering wheel controls, and Bluetooth connectivity.

All trim levels come with Toyota's Active Safety System, which includes features like dynamic stability control, antilock brakes and brake assistance, and Low-Speed Pre-Collision System, which scans the road ahead for potential vehicle collisions and deploys an audio-visual alert and braking assistance.

Customers of the 2019 Yaris sedan have seven colors at their disposal including Frost, Chromium, Graphite, Stealth, Sapphire, Pulse, and Icicle.

To go along with the name change, the 2019 Yaris sedan gets a few styling upgrades. The model though should not be confused with the one coming to India soon that was revealed at the Auto Expo 2018 last month. Slated to be launched in April, the Yaris sedan is open for bookings at some of the dealerships of the company.

That's not a lot, but then again the Yaris Sedan doesn't haul a lot of weight around, and the major upside is fuel economy: according to Toyota, it'll get 40 mpg on the highway when paired with the six-speed automatic (knock off just one mpg with the manual). The CVT variants will get paddle shifters.
