Android folks rejoice as Google brings Lens to all Google Photos users

Even if you fight the urge to update your Pixel phone - or if you have some other Android phone that isn't even compatible with the Android P Developer Preview - there's still a way that you can get a taste of Android P.

Android is now supporting Google Lens-powered by Google Photos and it's said that a version for iOS is slowly but surely making its way up front.

Android P will also come with improved privacy restrictions. Information on the current time, battery charging level and SIM status information has been removed altogether.

Android P has completely changed the Notification Panel of the device. For example, if a smartphone's cameras have support for zoom or bokeh features, then a third-party app may also use those features. The tool that debuted on Pixel devices in October previous year is also heading to iOS devices in the coming future. For end users this means they may be able to see indoor maps right from inside the apps. You will have to flash the image manually.

The first developer preview of Android P has just entered the wild. Since this is the first preview, it is advised to install it on a secondary device or if you're an app developer. This is a great step as a malicious app will not able to record anything from the app in the background. You'll like the new look of notifications, and all the smart controls and in-line replies or images.

Sadly, Android 9.0 Developer Preview has no official name or launch date yet.

After updating the Google app recently with a new screenshot editing tool, the Mountain View giant has added a new editor called "Markup".

The Android P has also introduced support for IEEE 802.11mc Wi-Fi protocol, also known as WiFi Round Trip Time (RTT). Google has also announced that is only an alpha version of Android P which means you are bound to encounter a lot of error or bugs with it. Meanwhile, the first beta version of Android P will show up with the second developer preview, scheduled to be released in early May. And now Google is doing the same with the Android P. Talking about the video encoding; the new Android update also brings HDR VP9 support for playing HDR content from the internet on supported devices.

"Rolling out today, Android users can try Google Lens to do things like create a contact from a business card or get more info about a famous landmark", Google tweeted earlier this week.

However, ahead of the Google's I/O 2018 slated to be held in May, the company is rolling out the update to its Google Photos app. This lets you help out for building navigation using the Google Maps.
