Stephen Curry in Group Bidding to Buy Carolina Panthers

Report: Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Steph Curry Among Group Bidding for Panthers

Rubin, who owns a stake in the Philadelphia Sixers, has reportedly notified the National Football League of his group's intent to purchase the team.

Curry and Combs would be high-profile members of what ESPN described as "a strong, diverse group" being assembled by Rubin, who has amassed an estimated fortune of $3 billion via various e-commerce enterprises. Along with rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs, Curry is understood to be among the celebrities Rubin has spoken to. Shortly after Richardson's announcement to sell the team, Diddy expressed his desire to buy the team which then prompted Golden State Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry to say he wanted in as well. He emerged as a serious bidder for the Panthers on Sunday.

Citing Forbes, ESPN suggested Rubin is worth approximately $3bn and would have to fund at least 30% of the cost of buying the Panthers-which Forbes values at $2.3m-to become the majority owner.

Rubin's name was mentioned on Sunday as a serious bidder to purchase the team that Jerry Richardson put up for sale during an National Football League investigation into allegations of workplace misconduct.

The hip-hop mogul also shared a video on Instagram, claiming he'd sign Colin Kaepernick to compete to be the Panthers' starting quarterback, even though the franchise already has Cam Newton.

"ATTN all @NFL owners, it's time for diversity!"

Curry, who's a Panthers fan by way of being a Charlotte native, previously stated his wish of being in an ownership group to acquire the club.

One of the ownership groups reportedly looking to buy the NFL's Carolina Panthers could include one of the biggest names in the music industry and an NBA MVP. Bids for the franchise are expected to start rolling in soon.
