Singer Aditya Narayan's vehicle rams auto; 2 hurt

Aditya Narayan

Although it did not look like a case of drink and drive, the singer was taken for a medical examination by Versova police, following which he was granted bail and fined Rs 10,000.

This is not the first case when Aditya has come into prominence for the wrong reasons.

The Versova police arrested singer Aditya Narayan on Monday evening after his vehicle rammed into an auto-rickshaw in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. While the driver of the rickshaw is admitted in the ICU, the passenger has fractured her leg, reports DNA. The auto-rickshaw driver suffered serious head injuries and is now recuperating in an ICU, while the female passenger fractured her leg in the accident.

Based on the statement given by complainant Shivekar, the police have booked Aditya under Sections of IPC for rash driving (279), causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others (338) as well as under the provision of Motor Vehicle Act for unsafe driving. "He took the injured woman to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for treatment". "Both the injured are in a stable condition (sic)", said Dipak Deoraj, Mumbai Police spokesperson and deputy commissioner of police (operation).

Apart from being the son of Udit Narayan, Aditya has made his own identity in the world of singing.

On the other hand, Aditya Narayan was granted bail for helping the victims reach the hospital.

The website quoted senior inspector Kiran Kale as saying, "It is a bailable offence". A year ago singer-actor-anchor Aditya came in the news for threatening an airline employee in Raipur, where he confronted an airline employee for extra fees for carry-ons. He has been hosting a singing reality show for a long time.
