Sea of Thieves gets one last (massive) beta before launch

Final Beta Open to All as It Sets Sail Today & Runs Through March 11th

Anticipation for this new title from Rare and Microsoft is high, thanks in part to the many beta tests Rare has been hosting to make sure Sea of Thieves is ready for prime time. This beta will be the final one before the game's release date in a few weeks and is open to everyone on Xbox One and PC. The main thing you need to keep in mind is, because this is an open beta, there are going to be a ton of players swarming the servers; much more than in previous tests. Naturally, this means you may have to battle other players as well as skeletons for riches.

The final beta begins today, March 9 and lasts through Sunday, March 11 at 10AM GMT (6AM ET).

As well, we are now introducing an emergent, intense opportunity into the world, with the chance of a Skeleton Fort now being occupied. Might they even be there already?

Sea of Thieves also supports cross-play across the Xbox One family of devices and Windows 10 PCs so that everyone can play regardless of their preferred platform. "We can't wait to watch and find out".

"As we head towards launch on March 20, we have one Final Beta test to run", Rare's Joe Neate explains. We felt that getting our game into players' hands early, learning from their feedback and building a community around this game was critical for a new, shared world experience like Sea of Thieves.

Absolutely! Whether co-streaming on Mixer, sharing on Twitch, uploading to YouTube or sharing via Game DVR, we are thoroughly looking forward to seeing what our players get up to.

Some players should expect to be temporarily put on hold before joining active sessions during peak times. It is encouraged to check out the status page and the Sea of Thieves Twitter page for status updates on the beta. Most excitingly, we've seen many, many awesome stories from our players, and recently we allowed them to share these with the world during our Closed Beta.
