Roger Federer Remains Perfect in Paradise

Roger Federer

Roger Federer has stressed that he is not surprised after Novak Djokovic crashed out in the early stages of the 2018 Indian Wells and the world No.1 has backed the Serbian star to "only get better from here".

In another upset, No. 16 Fabio Fognini lost to Jeremy Chardy 4-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

But the decision backfired as he peppered the court with 61 unforced errors and totally faded away in the third set in the second round clash that lasted 2 hours 30 minutes.

Federer wrapped up a 6-3, 7-6 (6) triumph over Delbonis with a flourish soaring for an artistic high-backhand volley to charge into the BNP Paribas Open third round.

But world number one Federer, who won his own contest with Federico Delbonis, had expected that Djokovic would find it tough getting back into the swing of things on the ATP Tour.

"It felt like first match I ever played on the tour", a despondent Djokovic told the press after his loss. The match resumed after rain suspended play 10 March.

Daniel, ranked 109 in the world, claimed the biggest win of his career as the qualifier prevailed 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 6-1.

While he targeted a comeback at the Madrid Masters in May, his quick recovery encouraged him to play at Indian Wells. "But I recovered very quickly, and I got myself ready" added the Serb.

Yuki Bhambri of India pulled off a surprise when he toppled ninth-seeded Frenchman Lucas Pouille 6-4 6-4.

Southern California native Taylor Fritz advanced to the third round with a 6-4, 7-6 (4) win over Russia's Andrey Rublev.

There aren't many players who can say they have a winning record over 20 time Grand Slam victor Federer but Delbonis is one of them.

"In the night-time, the ball is much more deader".

Marin Cilic, the 2014 US Open champion who lost to Federer in the final of this year's Australian Open, eased to a 7-5 6-3 victory over Marton Fucsovics. The surface doesn't react so much.

Roger Federer- the renaissance man of tennis who rewrites records books nearly everytime he steps on to the court strolled into the third round of the Indian Wells Masters where he is the defending champion.
