Positive hiring climate expected for Windsor area

Positive hiring climate expected for Windsor area

These are the results from the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey for the second quarter of 2018, which records a Net Employment Outlook (NEO)[1] of +10% for Australia, signalling that more employers plan to increase staffing levels than not heading into the second quarter of this year. In fact, of the more than 4,600 employers surveyed in India, 0 percent expressed any expectations to reduce payrolls in the next three months. While there won't be layoffs, hiring as such will be lower than in previous quarters.

The survey found 26 percent of IN respondents plan to increase staff; 3 percent plan to decrease; and 71 percent expect to maintain current workforce levels. Among the countries and territories featuring seasonally adjusted data, confidence is strongest in Taiwan, Japan, Hungary and the United States, while the weakest hiring prospects are reported in Italy, the Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Meanwhile, the hiring scene is looking up in other countries, too.

With seasonal variations removed from the data, the survey predicts a 14 per cent increase in hiring; a 2 per cent increase compared to the previous quarter, and an increase of 7 per cent from this time a year ago.

Hiring confidence among Canadian employers has improved for four consecutive quarters, according to ManpowerGroup. The weakest outlooks are reported in Mining (+15%), Government Information (+14%) and Nondurable Goods Manufacturing (+12%). Similarly, employers in the Services sector report a decline of three percentage points compared to the same period in 2017.

Upskilling and reskilling remain key, though. However, Gauteng employers report an improvement of six percentage points, while outlooks for Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal remain relatively stable.

The Hoosier State's net employment outlook is 23 percent.

The Orlando area had the strongest employment growth, 3.8 percent, followed by South Florida, with 3 percent growth during the year - both above the national average, he said. "However, we continue to see variation across sectors and regions".

The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey is conducted quarterly to measure employers' intentions to increase or decrease the number of employees in their workforce during the next quarter. Hiring plans weaken in Free State and Western Cape when compared with this time one year ago, with outlooks declining by seven and two percentage points, respectively. The softer outlook by small organisations may reflect concern around increasing headcount at a time when there is a growing debate about the need to increase wages across the economy.

"The strength of the employment outlook across the country continues to bode well for gains in household income over the coming year".
