Gunmen kill ‘25’ in fresh Plateau attack

A fresh attack by armed men, suspected to be herdsmen, has killed at least 25 people in Plateau State.

Confirming the attack, President of Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Hon.

DAILYPOST gathered that the attackers came Monday evening and killed 25 persons, leaving scores injured in Dundu village of Miango District, Bassa LGA of the State.

However, a resident of the affected community, who identified himself as Timothy, claimed that 23 bodies were counted after the attack.

He said, "Yes, there has been an attack but right now, we don't have the figure, but the DCP Operations is on his way to the village to ascertain the true position".

The victims, who were reportedly killed on Friday night in La'ake village of Kwall district, were said to be children below the age of 10.

It would be recalled that Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong had last weekend condemned the attacks of innocent persons in the state and said he had purchased 53 security vehicles equipped with communication gadgets as part of efforts to stem the tide of attacks in the state.

The attack comes barely a week after President Muhammadu Buhari visited the state to address the incessant killings in the region. The attack, Naija News understands, happened on the night of Monday 12th March 2018.
