Packers trade former first-round pick Damarious Randall to the Browns

He took a $10 million dollar pay cut to stay with the team last season.

But after an historic losing season, the wins don't feel as far away.

Back in 2013, Browns GM John Dorsey made an even bolder quarterback move to kick off his tenure with Kansas City.

Consider that DeShone Kizer threw 22 interceptions a season ago.

ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay called Barkley an "exception-to-the-rule" running back, a position rarely considered for the first pick. He recently said his rehab from that injury is going well, but he also noted that he has struggled with knee and shoulder issues and been limited to about one practice per week because of them.

The Bills can use their newly acquired pick to select a player who could fill one of their many holes.

If the season started tomorrow, Buffalo would be starting Nathan Peterman, a second-year player from the University of Pittsburgh.

"Not long after Dorsey's trifecta, Thomas tweeted: "@Browns are en fuego! He has been named to three Pro Bowls in four National Football League seasons and caught more than 100 passes twice and never less than 84 in a year. Taylor isn't winning you any playoff games, but there are quarterbacks in this draft who will. Also, Saquon Barkley only put up 44 yards against the best defense he played all season, which means that he did not play well against the best teams. If they can bring back Terrelle Pryor to go with Landry, Josh Gordon, Corey Coleman and whatever young receiver (s) stay with the team, they would have something.

Randall is coming off a season in which he played in 14 games (12 starts) and tallied 38 tackles, four interceptions and a return for a touchdown. The Patriots'Rex Burkhead and the Bengals'Jeremy Hill, both of whom played for Jackson as members of the Bengals, and the Patriots'Dion Lewis, who was with the Browns in 2013, are headed for free agency. In fact, I think that they should try to trade Tyrod somewhere else because then they will get some value out of him.

What Dorsey has done is moved Cleveland out of the all too familiar position of needing to draft a quarterback in the first round. They were able to do that because they still possess five picks in the Top 64, including No. 1, No. 4, No. 33 and No. 35. But I maintain signing McCarron or any quarterback with the goal of starting would have been hard for the Browns because their plans to use the first or fourth pick on a quarterback are well-known. They freed up a ton of a cap space and received a solid draft pick in the process. Leonard Williams figures to be the next one, and he is not scheduled to hit free agency until 2020 if the Jets exercise his fifth-year option.
