Nintendo Announces Super Smash Bros. Switch For 2018 Release

Nintendo Switch Gold Points

Among all the games that were announced at Nintendo Direct, one game that fans were excited to learn about was the Super Smash Bros.

We don't know much about the game yet - the trailer features characters you'd expect to have in the game, like Mario and Link.

Two of the biggest questions now surrounding Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo Switch are who are the fighters in its roster and whether it will be a port or an entirely new game. In the trailer, there was also a part where the silhouettes of the other characters were teased. "Super Smash Bros." is coming back.

Until then, speculation will be rampant and theories will be thriving in the Smash community.

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, confirmed that he is working on the Nintendo Switch version of the franchise. Nintendo dropped a new teaser for the game, which is as yet untitled, during its Nintendo Direct webcast on Thursday. "Please wait until we can release more information, or until release day!"

Back in 1999, Masahiro Sakurai gave the world a lovely gift: Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 64.

Nintendo will also continue to support its handheld console, the 3DS, with an unexpected port of Luigi's Mansion - a game originally launched with the GameCube in 2001 - and an expanded version of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
