He describes the series as, "a haunted house story on a starship".

The opening words of the Nightflyers teaser set the ominous tone for what is tipped to be one of the best sci-fi/horror shows to hit our screens in years.

Syfy's upcoming series Nightflyers, based on George R.R. Martin's 1980 novella, just released a short first look video from the horror series. It is reportedly the most expensive show the Syfy channel has ever made.

The next George R.R. Martin TV series is already in production-and we're not talking about the Game of Thrones spinoffs.

Syfy hasn't officially announced a premiere date for Nightflyers, however the network has indicated it will be part of their primetime schedule next fall.

It appears that Nightflyers has had some teething issues after it was revealed that showrunner Daniel Cerone exited from the programme with executive producer Jeff Buhler picking up the reins.

Nightflyers stars Gretchen Mol, Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, Angus Sampson, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Brían F. O'Byrne. A crew of explorers journey on the most advanced ship in the galaxy, The Nightflyer, to intercept a mysterious alien spacecraft that might hold the key to their survival. "It's like Psycho in space".

The series will air on Syfy in the United States and on Netflix in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with a cast including Boardwalk Empire's Gretchen Mol, Merlin's Eoin Macken and The Magicians' Brían F. O'Byrne.

And after watching this teaser, we are unbelievably excited to watch it when it comes out later this year.

The story takes place aboard The Nightflyer, a special ship with a small tightknit crew and a reclusive captain.
