New McLaren BP23 will be fastest McLaren ever made

McLaren BP23

Technical details for the auto will be revealed later this year, but the GTR is based on the carbon fiber structure of the standard (if such a word can be used) Senna model, and will hold a similar dry weight of around 1,198 kg (2,641 lb).

Following its press conference at the Geneva Motor Show, the British exotic vehicle manufacturer has released a few sketches of its forthcoming hybrid super sports auto, including confirmation that the new model will be the fastest McLaren ever made. The Woking-based firm has also released new sketches of the car's three-seat layout interior, one of which shows a speedo clocking 243 miles per hour (391 kph). Only 106 BP23s will be built, the exact same number of F1s produced. Also like the F1, just 106 will be built, costing £1.6m, plus taxes - and they're already sold.

The new vehicle is something of a homage to the F1, featuring a three-seat layout and central driving position as a nod to its widely revered ancestor. As with every McLaren, it's also likely to feature dihedral doors. The BP23's production name has yet to be announced, but we know it won't follow the alphanumerical strategy used for lesser McLarens so far. Every BP23 features some form of personalisation from McLaren's Special Operations Division (MSO).

McLaren revealed a bit more info on its upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie- and Mercedes Project One-fighting hyper GT auto.

Production of the gasoline-electric hybrid is due to begin at the tail end of 2019, giving unparalleled joy to 106 very, very well-off people. It will be a three-seater with a central, slightly forward driving position - the same layout as the F1 - and a petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain, which is most likely to have McLaren's proven four-litre twin turbo V8 driving the rear wheels (possibly with an electric motor/generator for a bit of extra voomah) and two more motors, one either side of a narrow footwell, driving the front wheels.

If you're one of those lucky 106 owners-to-be - the same build-run size as the F1 - McLaren Special Operations (MSO) will be reaching out to you shortly to customize your particular vehicle to your undoubtedly particular tastes.
