New Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald Promo Confirms Tuesday's Trailer Reveal

Harry Potter veteran David Yates directed Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald from a script by J.K. Rowling.

In the original Harry Potter films, the role of Dumbledore was played by Richard Harris and then Michael Gambon, following Harris' death.

We also get a look at Johnny Depp for the first time in live action as the titular and scary Grindelwald, and witness Dumbledore and Scamander's joint fight against some undisclosed darkness. Next, the teaser reveals a series of wands including wands belonging to Harry Potter, Lord Voldemort, Dumbledore, and Newt.

In the follow up to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Johnny Depp's Gellert Grindelwald has escaped custody and has set about gathering followers. The film stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamandar alognside returning stars Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, and Ezra Miller. Definitely because they're setting that up for a later film, and not because J.K. Rowling just feels like saying some shit now and again because she's bored.

In an effort to stop him, young Albus Dumbedore (Jude Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to track down his old friend Grindelwald in Paris.

Depp is also seen in the trailer in character as the white-haired Grindelwald after previously having a brief appearance in the first film in the trilogy. But Newt doesn't realize how unsafe this mission will be, and battle lines are drawn within the increasingly fractured wizarding world.

The Crimes of Grindelwald is slated to hit theaters November 16, 2018.
