Malcolm Butler expected to sign with Titans

Report Dolphins are one of many teams interested in Patriots RB Dion Lewis

Butler's Patriots tenure was a wild ride, beginning with his iconic Super Bowl XLIX interception and ending with his still-mystifying benching in Super Bowl LII. The New Orleans Saints, who considered trying to acquire Butler before trading wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Patriots past year, have shown a renewed interest, per Dianna Russini of ESPN.

As expected, Malcolm Butler is on his way out of New England. Additionally, Butler joins a former Patriots teammate in Tennessee's secondary, Logan Ryan, who signed with the Titans last spring. The New Orleans Saints hosted Butler on a visit but never signed him to an offer sheet.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network later tweeted the details of Butler's big-time deal with Tennessee: five years, more than $61 million, more than $30 million guaranteed.

Throughout his tenure in New England, Butler tallied 209 combined tackles, 50 defended passes, eight interceptions and two sacks.

After playing more than 95% of the snaps during the season, Butler did not play any defensive snaps during this year's Super Bowl loss to Philadelphia.

The now-former New England Patriots cornerback will sign with the Tennessee Titans when National Football League free agency opens Wednesday, according to multiple reports Tuesday. Now 28, Butler will be 33 by the time his contract is up.

Butler's Patriots career ended on a unusual, disappointing note as Bill Belichick benched him for all defensive snaps in Super Bowl LII.

While there is a lot of stability on the Patriots roster from 2017 to 2018, the few big names that could depart are impact players.
