Joy Behar of 'The View' Apologizes for Christianity Comment

Joy Behar, who mocked Vice President's Mike Pence's Christian faith and then resisted apologizing, has now done so.

Behar's controversial comments resulted in the Media Research Center launching a campaign to hold Behar accountable for spewing "anti-Christian bigotry" after she said that communicating with Jesus is a "mental illness" during a February 13 episode of "The View" when discussing Pence's faith. "It's another thing when Jesus talks to you", Ms. Behar said.

"It's one thing to talk to Jesus". "That's called mental illness, if I'm not correct".

On C-SPAN the next day, Pence attacked ABC, saying that the network should not have broadcast a "forum that compared Christianity to mental illness". First of all, Joy Behar apologized to Vice President Pence directly.

The controversy took another turn last Thursday when Disney CEO Bob Iger, in an address to a shareholder meeting in Houston, said that Behar had apologized "for things she has said about Christians and the Trump administration", according to multiple media reports. "She called me. She was very honest, and she apologized".

"I think Vice President Pence is right".

Iger responded by saying that Behar had already apologized to Pence, which he believed was "absolutely appropriate".

The vice president added that while that was enough for him, Ms. Behar had wronged tens of millions of Americans who deserve an apology too.

Behar's manager Bill Stankey told the Washington Post that Behar "apologized to the Vice President, he accepted and said he wasn't offended by her comment for his own sake but on behalf of the millions of evangelicals who watch ABC and her show", the White House source confirmed.

"I said to Joy, 'Of course, I forgive you".

Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center, which urged Christians to write and call ABC, said Behar's private phone apology is inadequate.

Hannity quipped back, "So does mine, but I'm not as good at it as you".
